| Bag size | Yield per bag | Bags per cubic yard | Bags per ½ yard |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80 lb | 0.6 ft³ | 45 | 23 |
| 60 lb | 0.45 ft³ | 60 | 30 |
| 40 lb | 0.3 ft³ | 90 | 45 |
The math
A cubic yard is 3 × 3 × 3 ft = 27 cubic feet. Divide 27 by the bag’s yield (printed on the bag): 27 ÷ 0.60 = 45 bags of 80 lb. Buy a few extra for spillage and uneven ground.
Over about a yard, ready-mix delivery is usually less work and often cheaper than 45+ bags. Compare both with the concrete cost calculator.
