Frequently asked questions

How much gravel do I need for a 100 ft driveway?

A 100 × 12 ft driveway with a 4 inch layer needs about 17 cubic yards, roughly 25.6 tons of crushed stone including 15% for compaction.

What gravel is best for a driveway?

Most gravel driveways use layers: a 4–6 in base of large crushed stone or road base, then 2–4 in of smaller crushed stone (like #57) on top. Pea gravel is usually too loose for driveways.
